Dear Rachita,

You haven't mentioned the reasons behind your termination. It all depends upon your relationship with the company officials. If you approach them and request the HR department to issue an experience certificate without mentioning any adverse remarks or reasons, they may agree to it.

Dear Rachita,

Your employer probably has not been advised properly by the HR department. If the termination was on the grounds of poor performance, instead of termination, they should have asked you to resign from the services, which would have been a better proposition. You can still request them to issue an experience certificate without using the word termination or mentioning poor performance.

How do you expect members of this forum to give you the answer to this question? The only person who can provide the answer as to whether the word "termination" will be included in the letter or not is the HR of your company. Therefore, it would be a good idea to go and speak to them and try to convince them not to include the word "termination" in the letter.

Dear Rachita,

As a good employer, a business-oriented company does not want to be perceived as degraded. We have a practice of issuing experience letters even after termination. If individuals approach us seeking an experience letter after termination, along with a resignation letter and a separate confirmation that they have received all dues and nothing remains unpaid, we provide them with an experience certificate. Employers also aim to avoid unnecessary controversies and conflicts. Therefore, it is beneficial to handle such situations calmly and support individuals who have not intentionally caused any harm or loss to the company.

I strongly recommend that you personally meet with your immediate supervisor and the HR Head to request an experience certificate. You can offer to address any outstanding matters in exchange for the certificate. By taking these steps, you are likely to obtain the certificate without any negative consequences. Opting for an experience certificate over a termination letter is always preferable and beneficial.

Ms. Rachita,

If services were terminated with notice by the employer, that depends solely on his discretion to mention or not the termination in the experience letter. There is no legal bar on him.

Hi,

As per the suggestion provided by you, I met with the HR head, and she informed me that the term "termination" is not used. Instead, they will be providing me with an experience letter and a relieving letter. Currently, I am serving my notice period.

Apart from what seniors have advised since you were terminated for poor performance, the span will not be longer. Secondly, since you lacked expertise in your work, resulting in your termination, how can a company provide you with an experience certificate with good remarks.

Ms. Rachita,

Your latest statement is contradictory to what you said in your original query. In the original query, you stated, "I got terminated from the company," but now you have stated, "Currently I am serving notice period." Is there any reason for such a contradiction? Please be aware that only the real facts can ensure you appropriate guidance or advice.

Hi,

They gave me written notice for termination that I will be released from this date, and I am serving the notice period. I asked HR for the termination word; she told me that you have been an employee for 1.5 years and your conduct is good. Therefore, we will not mention the reason in your experience and relieving letter, and we will provide you with a normal experience and relieving letter.

Ms. Rachita,

My earnest request to you is that whenever you raise any query, please ensure that you furnish all the inputs relating to your problem in one go and don't hide anything. Sh PS Dhingra has rightly pointed out that earlier you mentioned that you have been terminated from the company and later added that currently you are serving the notice period. Such intermittent clarifications waste the time of senior members.

Rachita,

No employer with progressive HR policies would issue an experience letter using the expression "services were terminated," even though it is a fact. Such an employer would always give the option of resigning, as there is every chance that an employee may not be successful in environment A but could perform well in environment B. Therefore, it is unthinkable to let an employee go with a blot on their career.

Please approach your employer for an experience letter that contains no blot on your future career.
