Dear All, Can anybody please explain the difference between talent management and knowledge management. Regards Neha Agrawal

Hi Neha,

Talent management is the process of implementing a system to explicitly identify and recognize people who are part of the talent pool. This process implies that there should be a clear differentiation among the people who can be put into the various categories of the talent pool, like Category A for those people who have a high talent level and are outstanding performers, Category B for those people having moderate performance but have the competency to excel. Similarly, Category C and Category D can be formed as per the requirements of the organization.

Now, a question arises: how to go about it? The answer is COMPETENCY MAPPING, which is a process of identifying the competencies of the workforce so as to identify those people who can be assigned greater job responsibilities. Competency Mapping is also an effective tool for ascertaining the need for training and development.

Knowledge Management ('KM') comprises a range of practices used by organizations to identify, create, represent, and distribute knowledge for reuse, awareness, and learning. Knowledge Management programs attempt to manage the process of creation (or identification), accumulation, and application of knowledge across an organization. Effective knowledge management is an unavoidable tool in IT-driven organizations to keep their workforce updated on the latest IT trends.
