Hi,

I have an offer, and the joining date is this Thursday, but I am still searching for a better one. Let's say I have an interview scheduled before Thursday; should I inform the recruiter about the current offer and joining date if asked?

Regards,
Akshara

Dear Akshara,

Sharing information about an existing offer with the hiring team is a negotiation tool. Unless you want them to speed up the decision or offer you a greater package, there is no reason why you should share it. It can create a negative impact if they already have a better offer for you. Hence, I request you to play your cards well.

Wishing you all the best!

Disclosing the other offer will not be in good taste. The question is, why have you come for this interview if you already have a confirmed offer? The only reason the current job may be giving a better package. It could also be construed as a negotiating tool. The company may think the person has not been selected, and he is trying to negotiate. In short, I would not disclose if I were in your place.
