Hi,

I have used the portals extensively to source profiles, but I would like to know of other sourcing techniques. Please give me suggestions as I have very generic knowledge about headhunting and referencing. I'm an IT recruiter, so please help me along the same lines.

Hi,

You can follow a few tips like:
- Maintain an Excel sheet when you download the profile from the internet with fields like: name, years of experience, location, skill set, company name, etc.
- When you call that candidate, ask them about the size of the team, skills worked on, hierarchy, etc. Also, ask the candidate for any references or if any of their friends are also looking for a change.
- Maintain the database. You can start headhunting only if you have an idea about the organization hierarchy.
- Keep in touch with the existing people working on the same skills (internal references).

Hi,

Just want to know, are you working with a consultancy or a company? Because when I was in a consulting firm, we used to have candidate meetings. We would either call the candidates to our office or meet them outside. Many times, a candidate doesn't feel comfortable talking on the phone. Meeting a candidate and talking to them can help you in: sourcing more profiles, gathering more ideas about the team size, obtaining information about friends/acquaintances in IT, gaining knowledge on the technology side, and learning about the company they are currently working with. I know initially this may sound different, but it is helpful. Hope this will be useful.

As well, give the search in Orkut. If the requirement is for Testing, give testing, and Orkut provides you the results. So join any group and post your requirement in Orkut. So you can get the candidates.

Can someone help me? How and where can I get job portals like TOI, Monster, etc.? Do I need to pay for them if I register, or is there any option where anyone can share the IDs on payment?

Please help me as I am in the process of starting a consultancy. I need some help from you all.
