Good day seniors. I work for an organisation with more than 2500 employees as an HR Executive. What approach should I use in implementing a culture change program?

A culture change program is generally planned by the top-level management of the company. At your level, you can prepare a report in terms of what areas you think need change and suggest methods to execute them. Present this report to your management and see what they have to say about it.

There are various ways to bring about a change in culture in an organization. Boot Camps, Employee Awareness Weeks, Workshops, Training, and Employee Engagement Programs are some of the common means to effect change. You can start some activities around them to observe how employees respond to them. The entire change process requires a lot of planning and a dedicated team to execute it.

Let me know more about your situation, and perhaps you can draft something of your own too. All the best!

Dear Wellington,

This is in addition to what Atul has said. You wanted to change your organization's culture. In this connection, I have the following questions:

a) Is your designation suitable for handling activities of this kind, or do you need approval from your Head HR for your planned changes? What are his/her views on the change in the organization's culture?

b) If this initiative has been proposed by the Head HR, does he/she have the management's approval for your proposed actions?

c) What type of culture does your organization currently have? Is it bureaucratic, innovative, customer-centric, image-conscious, or something else? How was this culture measured?

d) Where do you envision taking your organization from its current state? Have you established a direction?

e) What is the reputation of your company in the country? What products or services does your company offer? How is the customer satisfaction index measured?

f) In the last five years, what new products or services has your company introduced?

Please provide the answers to the above questions, and then we can offer our opinions.

Thanks,

Dinesh V Divekar

Congratulations on this initiative. In addition to what Atul and Dinesh have contributed, here are my questions:

Have any of your seniors discussed any critical problems with you and requested you to research further into it?

What are the top catchphrases in your firm?

What are the apparent group thinkings that you have noticed?

What is the first expression that you have noticed on your employees' faces/communication right when they enter the office?

When was the last downturn in the business cycle of your firm, and what were the cultural changes implemented through it?

Let's begin by discussing a few minor areas and then we can research more deeply.
