Can anyone guide me on whether a person posted to their native place on medical grounds would be entitled to project allowances or not? Could someone elaborate on the rules or provide a reference regarding the same.

Dear,
In reference to your query regarding project allowance, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that it will depend upon the Management Deployment Policy for what type of benefits an employee will be eligible for in case of posting on medical grounds to his native place. Kindly seek help and advice from the HR personnel working in the organization. As the employee has been posted to his native place on medical grounds, it is a specific case, and the management has the sole discretion in this regard, in my opinion.

It depends on various factors such as:
A) What's the eligibility for project allowance?
B) When an employee is on medical leave, is he eligible?
C) Is there any project in the place of posting where such allowance is payable?
Hence, check the rules of the company and decide.

Administration: Paying Project Allowance is a policy guideline of an organization. The HR and Finance Departments have to contribute to the drafting and arriving at the final shape and to communicate it to all employees, irrespective of whether the employee is a member of a new project or not. At a later date, the employees may become a part of project management. Let it not be a confidential matter. Follow an open culture.
Policy Formulation: If you have grades among your employees on the project, you have to assess the Project Allowance. Senior managers, Middle managers, and Junior managers are to be categorized. Managers/Executives/Officers, as the case may be as per the designations. Secondly, the project term should be assessed. Delayed projects escalate the cost in every term. Thirdly, the Project allowance, with the assessment of the Finance Dept., whether it is taxable or not. If they decide that it is not to be taxed, though it is an income to the employees, then they have to decide whether production of any supporting documents is needed to exempt it from income tax.
The employees are to be paid the project allowance, either with the bifurcations made in it or a lump-sum as per the policy decision. In the bifurcation, also you must be prudent enough to communicate what the components in the bifurcation are, should have clarity as to what sort of amount is eligible for a continuous claim, and in special circumstances. Miscellaneous expenses of the employees are to be negligible and should not violate the systems of reimbursing the amount of project allowance.
An employee, if they happen to go on leave with permission, is to be paid the project allowance. Alternatively, you may communicate that "On Leave" under any kind of leave will not be considered, which may help the project to get completed without delay.
The above are only hints and not exhaustive.

Dear Rakesh,
I would like to give you a simple rule. If an employee is on the job, he or she must receive project allowance. It doesn't matter if he or she is working from their native place or from home.

Dear Rakesh,
Once the company has acceded to the request for posting on medical grounds, all the allowances paid to the employees stationed at that place should invariably be paid to this employee as well, unless and until there is a specific condition or offer from the employee to forgo project allowance in lieu of the posting.

I have corrected the spelling and grammar errors in the user's input and ensured proper paragraph formatting with a single line break between paragraphs. The original meaning and tone of the message have been preserved.

Question related: if you were hiring someone locally to work on that project, would you give him a project allowance? I guess not. If that is the case, then this employee does not get it either. Furthermore, he has requested a posting on medical grounds, so that is another reason why it will not be given. However, it still depends on what the management wants to do. It is at their discretion to give it even if not required. I assume from your question that you are looking for reasons not to pay in order to lower your costs.

I think he is talking about site allowance when one was posted at project sites. In many construction organisations, site/project allowances are payable only when they are at site/project. Pon
