Hello,
I have gone through lots of discussions on PF and ESI, but I still need to ask: Please suggest to me how to apply PF and ESI for hotel staff. Currently, I am the only employee for the hotel as I am the HR for the group, and I have to handle all work related to HR (Recruitment, Payroll, establishing PF and ESI policies, etc.). Please suggest a step-by-step procedure to start PF and ESI as I have to implement this from next month.

Vishakha

Dear Mr. Satish,
There are many effective ways of hiring. Initially, you have to know what you want in your hire and what you can offer.
- Make a write-up with a detailed list of the job description and describe the roles and responsibilities.
- In Portals, after you log in as an employer, you will certainly find required fields that have to be filled in as mandatory.
- The search should be appropriate. For instance, if you are hiring a Java developer with C++ skill set, the option should be very clear ("Java Developer") AND C++. If any of the job descriptions say .Net, it will be good. Then the search goes ("Java Developer" AND C++) OR (Java Developer AND C++) AND .NET.
- Why AND and OR - "AND" is to include the specific skill set and "OR" is to exclude the specific skill set.
- Precise location would be good. In case the employer looks out for candidates from outstation, also suggest a couple of locations near the prescribed location.
- Sourcing Aftermath:
- Email the job description and check whether the candidate has the adequate skill set.
- Check how much the candidate can rate in each skill set.
- Ask questions related to the subject (before that, you could even gather a few from seniors, the internet, and other sources).
- If satisfied, check with the candidate's current salary and expected salary.
- Check for location/relocation.
- Negotiation is a major part where the recruiter should be aware. You may give him the range in which he may fall for that category but never commit.
- Check if the candidate has all the appropriate documents that could be submitted for the final interview.
- Ask him to refer to your website and company information (the candidate can be endorsed).
- Lastly, notify the candidate of the benefits that the company provides after the selection.
Find the above, and in case of any further clarifications, you may write with your queries.
