If you have experience in payroll and are considering shifting to HR generalist because you have an MBA, then I feel it's a bad decision. In payroll, you also have great vertical growth potential to reach the pinnacle of your career with a good pay scale. If you have a background in commerce and an interest in numbers, this is a good bet for a fruitful and peaceful career.
Remember, being an HR generalist in most companies is a target-driven career. I don't doubt your capabilities, but if you fail to meet the TAT (Turnaround Time), success might be a bit elusive.
Please design your resume based on what you have done and what you know with your expertise. MS Word has excellent resume formats that can help. There is no specific HR generalist resume format. Don't copy any pre-formatted CV; recruiters today can easily spot copycats. Instead, I suggest you design your unique CV.
So, please plan your move more carefully as I assume you may have to start as a fresher in the Generalist role.
