Hello,
I want to register for a new PF and ESI account in Jharkhand. Just confused with some of the below-mentioned points:
1. Do I need to take a new sub-account for ESI when I start a branch in a different state?
2. As a temporary staffing service provider, do I need to pay any deposit to ESI? If yes, how is the deposit recovered?

Dear Williams,
Answers are mentioned below:
1. Do I need to take a new sub-account for ESI when I start a branch in a different state?
=> Yes, you have to. Otherwise, the employees will not get the benefit from local hospitals.
2. As a temp staffing service provider, do I need to pay any deposit to ESI? If yes, how is the deposit recovered?
=> There is no such deposit required while getting registered for ESI, apart from the fees which are non-refundable.
Kindly let me know if you need any further information or clarification.
Thank you.

Answer for question No. 1: Yes, you should take ESI sub code.
Answer for question No. 2: No separate deposit is required for taking a sub code. However, if you are applying for a main code, you have to deposit the 6 months' ESI amount since you are a temporary staffing provider. The ESI amount has to be calculated based on the minimum wages. Therefore, there is no need to pay the ESI amount for the first 6 months. If the wages exceed the minimum wages, the ESI payment should be adjusted for any excess already paid or deposited.
