Dear All,

I am currently working with a bank in Dubai as an HR Executive. I have 5 years of HR experience from Pakistan. I have an MBA in Human Resources and am now interested in enhancing my qualifications with a certification. I am torn between two options: Hays and PHR Certification. Please advise me on which one would be more beneficial and practical in the Middle East in the long run. From my understanding, the PHR is more common in Europe, while Hays is highly sought after in the Middle East.

Please share your valuable comments.

Hi Mojuni, Could you specify which training module of Hays you are talking about? I have completed the Hays plan for compensation and benefits. After working on this structure, my observation is that it is a good plan to follow. However, I have also worked on the Point Plan, which has a more structured pattern compared to the Hays plan.
Both of these plans are not actually useful for me in my current assignment because my institution does not utilize these plans for compensation and benefit calculations.
What I am trying to convey is that gaining knowledge is valuable regardless of whether it directly applies to my current work profile. Not all organizations will implement Hay plans simply because you have completed them, as these plans require a lot of time to integrate into the system.

Hi,

Thank you for replying to me. I am interested in a job analysis training course with Hays. I know it is not necessary to have implementation at the workplace, but it might be required in the future at the same company or another. At least in the Middle East job market, it may increase the chances of moving up the career ladder. Do employers in the Middle East prefer Hays over PHR or SPHR?

I am not so aware of the Middle East, but in European countries, the Hay method is used. As far as job analysis training courses are concerned, I would suggest trying to do a certification course named Certified Recruitment Analyst. Alternatively, even Thomas profiling is good for learning. For more details, you can get in touch at cheers2life@gmail.com.

Since you are looking for an HR certification that will provide you with a body of knowledge relevant to a more global perspective, please see the Institute for Human Resource Management Education. I cannot input a URL at this point, but if you type IHRME into your browser, you will find the site.

Furthermore, if you are interested in assessment and development centers, check out the Level A and B certification from the British Psychological Society. It teaches you how to evaluate a psychometric tool and has a much broader application than just being certified in one vendor's tool.
