I would really like to apply for Techiosh membership but was wondering about the benefits of TECHiosh status and whether it is worth spending the money on it. Does a person use the letters after their name, and is it recognized by employers? Does anyone have it and have any experiences, good or bad? What are the merits and demerits of Techiosh? What are the qualifications required for applying for Techiosh? Any of our citehr EHS members have Techiosh membership? Thanks in advance. . .

Dear Mr. Raghu,
I am not a full-time H&S professional. I am a project person. I have always worked considering H&S of my team members in my projects. Looking at my passion, my company has given me additional responsibility of EHS. Although I have been actively involved in H&S since 2004, I have not come across anyone who is Techiosh. I am sure nobody knows about this as well in the Nasik - Maharashtra area. If you can share what the fees are and what the syllabus is, probably one can evaluate. Request to please keep on sharing.
Regards,
Sudhir

Dear Raghu,
I think in India, companies are just behind qualifications which, according to the statutory requirement, are limited to Diploma or Degree in any stream of Engineering + Post Graduate Diploma in Safety from a State Technical Education Board recognized institute. Any other courses, like what you mentioned about Techoish, in India, companies will consider this as an additional qualification. But if you don't have the basic qualification, no one will even consider.
Nowadays, a lot of MNCs are giving importance to safety and looking for potential people where these types of qualifications may help. I am sure this is the current scenario in Indian industries. This is an HR forum basically; there are a lot of HR people here. I am sure 99% of them may not even know about this course. So, a condition that demands this qualification for a job is quite far off.
I just searched the net and found the following link. You might have come across this. However, please let us know more details about this course as Mr. Sudhir said.

Dear Sudhir,
I appreciate your interest in implementing EHS standards in your workplace. How many of the engineers/supervisors are currently doing this? It's amazing that you have been part of the EHS team since 2004.
Mr. Dipil has already provided a link that seems to be related to Techiosh, an International certificate/membership. To apply for Techiosh, one needs any HSE degree or Nebosh certification. Unfortunately, I don't have more details at the moment, but I will definitely share once I gather all the necessary information about Techiosh.
Keep in touch.

Dear Dipil,
Yes, in India, they are not required to have such kinds of certifications. However, for those looking for jobs overseas, having a Techiosh certification/membership can greatly enhance their job prospects. Techiosh certification is mostly required for Managerial level positions.
Once you obtain this certification/membership, you will be able to log in to the IOSH website to access updated EHS-related information. Additionally, they will invite you to EHS conferences to help improve your skills, and you will receive all the latest updates via email and postal mail.
I also have the same link that you shared with us. I will inform you once I have the exact details.

Safety Professionals,
The intention of joining membership of any body is to be updated with things happening around.
IOSH (www.iosh.co.uk) based in UK is a professional body know for its commitment and work in the HSE field. It’s an organization well known around the globe and has good reputation. (Please see the website to know more.)
https://www.iosh.co.uk/Membership/Become-a-member.aspx
The link for membership is attached above. The membership fee currently is GBP 148 which is roughly INR14500. All new members are welcomed initially as Affiliate Members. The cost for your first year of membership is £148. Once you've joined IOSH will review your qualifications and experience. If appropriate then will recommend that you're transferred to Associate, Technical or Graduate membership. If the committee ratifies this recommendation then no additional costs for subscription are incurred. (Need to understand that it takes some time to hear from committee on your status In my case it was 3months maybe things are faster now). NEBOSH IGC can get you TechIOSH status. Every Technical Member has to maintain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Hope the above is clear on steps for gaining Tech IOSH status.
A million dollar question. Should you join or not?
Answer is YES & NO. I was a TechIOSH member for 3 years benefit was that I could highlight recruiter’s abroad of being a TechIOSH member which would give me a certain leverage upon many who did not have any kind of affliction. Also I use to maintain CPD for GradIOSH status. To maintain CPD I would update myself on regular basis. Had access to much information into HSE relevant material from IOSH site.
Drawback is only the pricing you need to shell out year after year.
I suggest only if your organization needs you to or you are on a job hunt and have been asked for professional membership or you plan to go big in HSE to join considering it as investment.
Hope to have answered all your query
