I am working in an IT company in Ahmedabad and I want to know if ESIC is applicable for the IT industry or any service industry.

Hi Pruthak,
ESIC is applicable on a salary basis, not on an industry basis. Employees earning below 15k will be covered by the ESIC. This regulation applies to all industries, but there should be more than 20 employees for it to be enforced. For further information, please refer to the ESIC Act of 1948.

Agree with raghu...ESIC will be applicable if employees are more than 20 and there earning is more than 15,000/-. But there are few locations were ESIC is not applicable.

I am working as a Management Trainee in 1 HFC, and in our company, ESIC is not applicable. What could be the reasons for this? We have 500 employees. Pruthark, please help me out.
