Hello Shafivulla,
It depends on which direction you want to move in. If you want to progress your career into the recruitment line, it definitely helps. If you want to move into Core HR, it may not.

Dear Mohammed,
Greetings!!!
As per my understanding, I feel you are asking if the consultancy experience is counted as an HR role. Yes, definitely it is. In fact, consultancy work experience is all about recruitment and business development, which is one of the various facets of HR. HR consultancies offer a good opportunity for a novice to practice an HR role. At the same time, we should understand that most companies seek people with HR experience from other companies and not consultancies. This is because the work we do in a consultancy is limited to staffing. However, it all depends on what kind of consultancy you are working with and what criteria the companies (where you seek opportunities) have in mind to recruit an HR person.
Hope this answers your question.

Hi Shafi,
Don't worry, your experience does matter if you want to go through the recruitment process. Make sure that you will be involved in the direct recruitment procedure; then only it will add an advantage to your profile. It involves direct interaction with the candidates, conducting interviews, managing client relationships, salary negotiations, and more. Nowadays, many companies, including MNCs, have profiles related to recruitment exclusively.
If you wish to pursue a career in Core HR or HR generalist profiles, then you will have to move in a slightly different direction. In practical terms, for a core HR profile, you may have to struggle a bit. Remember, no job is inherently good or bad; it's up to you to decide which career path you want to choose. The option is yours.
Best of luck!

Good morning to all,
I have 1 year of experience in HR at a corporate office, but I am not handling recruitment at all. I want to learn recruitment. Should I join a good consultancy or join a corporate office at the trainee level to learn recruitment? Kindly help me.

Shivani

Hi, Tajsateesh,
May I know, what is Core HR, and in which industry are core HR practices prevalent? I want to build my career in that field. Currently, I am doing my internship in a recruitment consultancy. Which path would be more preferable for me?

Being a fresher, can I find a place in the HR position? I am so ambitious to start my career in HR, but everywhere experience counts. Unless an opportunity is provided, how can the fresher exhibit the talent? I need advice on whether to look after the HR field or to start the career with another position related to marketing.

Whatever you do with the attitude to learn and perform, it matters a lot. By working with an HR Consulting firm, you will improve all managerial and required corporate skills such as confidence, communication, decision-making, convincing, target achievement, and teamwork, among others. One day, you may become a smart recruiter in the marketplace.

- Any work experience becomes countable or important in relation to the job you are seeking or applying for. If you are seeking a job in HR and you have some experience in Accounts, then obviously, accounts experience will not be counted and it is not important.
- Secondly, one should draft his/her resume properly to present his/her experience in a structured and detailed manner to help understand the person screening the resumes to decide whether the experience is countable and important.
- Similarly, at the time of the interview, a lot will depend on one's presentation skills to decide whether the experience is countable and important.

Dear all and experts,
I was working in a consultancy group where my job profiles included PF, ESIC, gratuity, contract labor law, etc. for four years. Would this experience be considered HR-related or not? I am currently working in the HR department, so would it be considered significant for future opportunities?

We have two types of consultancy: one is a placement agency, and the other is outsourced HR jobs, i.e., conducting compliance audits in MNCs, etc. Since you have recruitment experience, why not try for these agencies, which would give you greater exposure.

Hi,
I am working in a reputed KPO in a financial services profile for the last 5 years. I have received one promotion, and currently, I am working as an Assistant Manager. However, I have a strong desire to build my career in an HR profile. I have handled recruitments for my process in terms of relevant experience for an HR profile. Please guide me on how I should make this shift happen. Should I start from scratch in a consultancy, or should I try to switch to another company in an HR role? I have attempted the second option, but I have not been successful yet.
