Hi everyone,

I have some doubts regarding attrition rate. Is there any standard formula to calculate this? I have seen so many different formulas and am confused by them. Can someone help me understand the attrition rate formula for yearly, quarterly, and monthly calculations? I hope to receive a response as soon as possible.

Thanks & Regards, Vani

Hi Vani,

In my organization, we use the standard formula for attrition, i.e. (No. of Separation * 100) / Avg(Opening Balance, Closing Balance). If you want to find the attrition rate for a particular month, then you can use (No. of Separations in that month * 100) / Avg(opening, closing balance of that particular month). I hope this will benefit you.

To simplify, understand that the attrition rate is the number of employees who have left the company at a given point in time.

Hypothetical Situation:
No. of Employees Hired for 1QTR (JFM): 50
No. of Employees Left in the 1QTR (JFM): 40
Attrition Rate = 80% Approx
