Dear Seniors,

I have been in the HR profession for the past 2 years and have been fortunate enough to gain exposure to most aspects of HR as a Generalist. After starting my career as a Management Trainee in a reputed organization, I now hold a very respectable position within my current organization.

I am seeking views and guidance from my Seniors regarding an event that occurred yesterday. I personally enjoy headhunting candidates and have been successful in poaching candidates from other organizations, as I believe this method helps me secure the best candidates.

Yesterday, the CEO of one of our competitors sent me an email in which he indirectly warned me against hiring candidates from his organization. I am reaching out to my senior colleagues in the HR profession, especially those involved in headhunting, for advice on how to handle such a situation.

Regards,
Sanjay

Dear Sanjay,

I can understand what you might be going through. I would suggest that you inform your seniors about it. Approach them professionally, not like a crybaby, and ask them how to respond to such emails.

If I were in your place, I would have ignored such emails or replied back to the person, stating that I am just doing my job, and thanking him for his email!

Oh dear... I know those nasty emails - but yeah - like one person responded, you're just really doing your job and he has no business threatening you like that. I would say go ahead and do your job; after all, that nasty man is also doing his job of protecting his company's assets :)
