Hi All,

Please suggest some good and innovative ideas for this Diwali celebration. We have a small team of 14 people, including our director. Every time we go out for birthday celebrations at a restaurant, it gets boring to have dinner and come back home. Kindly suggest some innovative ideas for this celebration. I want to do something different so that my colleagues don't get bored. Please consider that we are a group of 14, consisting of 7 males and 7 females.

Kindly assist me at your earliest convenience.

Thanks,

BR, Preeti

Hi Preeti,

Diwali is a very special occasion where employees love to celebrate with their family members, setting aside their busy day-to-day life. As your team consists of only 14 members, you can consider presenting them with gifts (vouchers), sweets, and crackers at a reasonable cost.

Dear Friend,

You have 14 people, so you can arrange the family visit in your organization before celebration. Formally call all family members into your organization and arrange some group games for all members to participate in. Give prizes to all, and finally, you may have special dishes. It will create a feeling of unity and better understanding among everyone.

All I can suggest is the following:

New dress for at least Rs. 2000/-

1 Kg Mixture, Ribbon pakoda, Murukku

1 Kg Mysorepa, Jamoon, Suryakala

50 gm Deepavali Lehiyam, Gulika

Rs. 1000/- Simple Crackers

Heavy delicious feast for lunch with home-cooked dishes (strictly no hotel, please)

Unlimited joy with family members when they unite as a joint family just for a day.

Hi Friend,

Give them garments gift vouchers according to your budget, so that they have their own choice. Consider sweet boxes for the occasion. A small picnic, if everyone agrees, can be planned. According to your budget, you can even plan for 2 days, as Diwali falls on Monday. Plan for Saturday and Sunday so that they are back home for rest and for celebrating Diwali, as many of them would prefer celebrating at home. At the same time, they should be back in the office on Tuesday.

Thanks

Hi All,

Thanks a ton for all your replies. There is a small problem - people don't like to bring their spouses to the office, especially male staff who don't like to invite their family members. I am planning to do this outside the office so that they have a different feel. Planning a dress code of kurta and pyjama for boys and saree for girls.

But what's next? I mean to say games and entertainment part, please suggest.

Thanks again to all of you.

Tell all the employees to come prepared with any one cultural item for this occasion. If someone is not prepared, the host will assign a task to that individual. It will be great fun.

Dear Chandershakher,

Where can someone buy murukku and all these items as these Andhra-specific dishes are not easily accessible? If you are suggesting them, could you also provide information on where to purchase them along with your recommendations?

"Ekaada evertoni martarle telgulo" - It would be very helpful if you could do so.

Dear Preeti,

Let me tell you what I did for the last Diwali. You might get some ideas from it. We are a group of 18 friends (11 males). We went to a resort and enjoyed the whole day with fun games, swimming, trekking, etc. At the end of the day, I presented them with 4 CDs. One CD contained the video footage of the day-long fun, and the other three CDs had soothing instrumental music such as "Music for Peace," "Music for Relaxation," and "Instrumental Music" (you can even download from www.mahageetamusic.com).

This was a great experience for everyone, and the music provided enjoyment throughout the year. I am still appreciated for making the right selection of the gift. Give it a try.

Hi Preeti,

I am Ravi, and after a long time, I have seen your post. I personally feel that all of your employees will be very happy with Diwali celebrations if you organize a party, especially for the male employees. In your office, there is a girl who dresses attractively, so for parties, she might be at her best! You are fortunate to have such a girl in the office. I wish I worked in your office!

Please don't misunderstand my post; I just remembered your earlier post and wanted to ask about it. Hehehe! 😄😆

Thank you.

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and ideas. I am planning to include some games; I just need to check whether I can host this celebration outside the office or in-house. I will update you all shortly on the final decision.

Thanks again.

Dear Friend,

I have a suggestion you may like or not, I don't know, but surely it has some value. Why don't you and your staff team go and spend a day with any orphanage, buy crackers and sweets, and if possible, dresses? You can make a day meaningful. I can assure that you and your team will make many underserved children feel happiness. Through this, you will feel the happiness and the real festival meaning. If possible, take your family with you; then your family members will definitely be impressed by you and your concept.

Try and share the feedback. I am available at this email address: gnanasekarmsw@gmail.com.

Do something like telling teammates to do a presentation in groups of 3 on the eve of Ramayana victory related to the performance goal, such as "how to win." Alternatively, use a motivational approach that can be easily transferred into a presentation. Make it more beautiful by instructing teammates to wear clothes resembling the characters from Ramayana and present it as a drama. Give away prizes and gifts to everyone, such as candles and crackers, to be burned in a safe place outside the organization together as a team. Have fun!

Dear Jitender,

Hahaha... thank you for your compliments. I was just kidding. Let me speak in Telugu to make you happy. "Murukku ippudu universal dishuga ayindhi kaadha? Ekkada ey angidtlo poi theesukovalane chopthey, adhi nenu ichchey free advertisement."

"All members are really active and sportive to receive Diwali in a grand way!"
