Hi,

I am on my way to document the leave policy for my company, but I am very confused. Can anybody send me a copy of the leave policy just to refer to what comes first? For example: Purpose, Scope, Definitions, Eligibility, etc.

Also, let me know when the policy document is ready, should it be approved by the CEO and have his signature on the document before it is sent to all the employees.

Hi Soumya,

Please find the sequence below:

Heading of the Document - Leave Policy
Prepared By - Your Name
Approved By - CEO
Version - 1.0 and effective date
Purpose
Scope
Entry Criteria - i.e. only for FTEs or even for contract staff
Categories of Leave
Exceptions

Pramod

Hi Soumyo,

The best guide for any leave procedure is the Model Standing Orders under the Industrial Standing Orders Act. You must go through the Act to understand the spirit and logic behind devising leave for a workforce. Based on the logic, you will be able to draft a leave procedure that will suit your needs. Furthermore, you will not face any legal problems in the future.
