Hi friends,
I want to make my career in HR. I am doing MBA (1st year). My problem is that:
1) I cannot talk much to people.
2) I cannot mix up fast with people.
3) I am also a bit reserved and shy kind of person.
4) People can easily make me do things as per their convenience, and at that time, I don't realize that they are making me do their work.
5) I don't know how to handle and tackle people.
All these things are very important in HR, so please, can you tell me how to overcome my weaknesses.
Please tell me what should I do to overcome all my weak points.

Hi Tanya,

I think the main reason for your problem is your environment and way of thinking. Please address these two aspects. I can provide you with further suggestions on the same:

1. Make friends.
2. Read books.

For any additional suggestions, feel free to call me at 09886107973.

Well,

It's good that you are doing nice introspection before moving ahead in HR. What I would suggest here is that you start observing other people, especially your role models, and how they interact with new people. Try to act like them slowly and gradually.

Another thing, whenever you get a chance for public speaking, don't miss it out anyhow. That's extremely important to solve your queries fast. If things work out with these two, get back to me; we may form further steps. Otherwise, look out for other ways.

Good luck ahead.

Tanya!

I guess Bill Smith's advice is best to follow. In addition to that, let me tell you one more thing. Start using your brain before acting on any action advised by others. Think and think and think, then act.

Hi dear, don't worry. Your weaknesses may be your power, but you don't understand it yet. Everybody has some weaknesses. Think on it, and don't assume all HR people don't have weaknesses. If you want, you can pursue a career in HR.

Hi Madhuri,

Thanks a lot. I like this field very much. I'm looking forward to this. I have almost 2 years of experience in HR: one year in hardcore recruitment and one year as a summer trainee with RNA Group. Over there, I had done my three projects and assisted the VP as well. Now I'm in admin.

Now, I'm planning for certification in HR.

Thank you for your valuable advice, Madhuri. Take care.

Hello sir,

Thank you so much. I agree with you. But in my office, every senior told me that I should speak up regarding work. I'm perfect in my work. If it's really necessary, then I will always communicate. However, it's a relief because I have been very upset during these days.

Thank you, sir.
