Hi Neeru,

Competency Mapping is different from what you are referring to as Competition Mapping. Competition Mapping is to try and find out competitors in your business area and related things about that. Here we can say that we need to find out what competencies your competitors and the market have and then devise plans and strategies for your own company to come up and move ahead in the market. So we can see that Competition Mapping has to use competencies. I am attaching a file which may help you to understand competency at a broader aspect. Hopefully, you will get more info on this from other members.

Hi Anuradha,

Thank you for your insights. I now understand that competency and competition are two distinct concepts. I have a good grasp of competency mapping, but I would appreciate more information on Competition Mapping. Could anyone provide guidance on how to construct a competition mapping framework?

Hi Neeru,

Some of the methods I can think of regarding competition mapping are:
- SWOT Analysis
- Balanced Scorecard
- Market Trends and Forecast
- Future Demand
- Internal Manpower Analysis

There may be many more methods. Essentially, it's about what you need to stay ahead in the competition. Therefore, the most crucial aspect is to have knowledge of what is going on in the market and what the competitors possess that your company either lacks or must acquire.
