Hi,

I would like to know if the recruiting business is profitable. I mean, there are hundreds and thousands of such companies and freelancers. Are all of them able to manage to get clients or businesses? More importantly, do they get paid for their services?

Is there room for a new company to join? How will you attract business? Is there scope to offer other services?

I think, yes. There could be thousands thinking the same way, but the vision towards this matters a lot. Having good knowledge about your business plan and clients, then it actually works well. I know consultants who really make good money with their right efforts.

Don't try to have too many clients. Just have four strong clients and provide good service. Try to go through referrals. Don't invest in too many things in the beginning. Just try to increase your network by getting resumes through your friends. Do the business development on the side. Once you start billing, invest in a portal, labor, and all that. With only four clients, you could make good money. Don't only concentrate on IT; focus on other companies too.

Thank you. It makes sense.

We are already involved in Software Consultancy and IT Services. However, we are now considering expanding into Recruiting, Temp Staffing, and HR outsourcing verticals. Consequently, we are seeking a business head who can join us and oversee this new vertical.

The above proverb is applicable in all cases. I remember another quote from Mr. Shiv Khera's book "You Can Win": "Winners do things differently." Whatever the venture a person starts, there should be something new and a value addition. The book "Who Moved My Cheese" also will give good insight.
