Hi,

Plachimada is a place in Northern Kerala where the people of the village have been carying a valiant fight against uncontrolled extraction of ground water by the soft drink "MNC". It has been ON for quite a long time. Ofcourse politicians (as always) hav been taking turns in trying to extract advantage out of the situation!

This piece of info was released few weeks back.

Read through it................

How SOFT DRINKS are HELPFUL

To clean a toilet:

Pour a can of the drinkinto the toilet bowl. Sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in the soft drink removes stains from vitreous china.

To clean corrosion from car battery terminals :

Pour a can of soft drink over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion

To remove grease from clothes :

Pour a can of soft drink into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The soft drink will help loosen grease stains

WE DRINK THIS STUFF!

OF COURSE TO CLEAN OUR SYSTEM TOO.

AFTER ALL WE ARE PAYING FOR IT.

For your information

The average pH of soft drinks is 3.4. This acidity is strong enough to dissolve teeth and bones! Our human body stops building bones at around the age of 30. After that it shall be dissolving the bones every year through the urine depending on the acidity of the food intake. All the dissolved calcium compounds get accumulated in the arteries, veins, skin, tissue and organs, which affects the functioning of the kidney assisting in formation of kidney stones.

Soft drinks do not have any nutritional value (in terms of vitamins and minerals). They have higher sugar content, higher acidity, and more additives such as preservatives and colorings. Some people like to take cold soft drinks after each meal, guess what's the impact?

The Impact?

Our body has an optimum temperature of 37 for the functioning of digestive enzymes. The temperature of cold soft drinks is much less than 37, sometimes quite close to 0. This lowers the effectiveness of the enzymes and puts stress on our digestive system, digesting less food. In fact the food gets fermented. The fermented food produces bad smelling, gases, decays and forms toxins, which are absorbed in the intestines, get circulated in the blood and is delivered to the whole body. This spread of toxins can lead to the development of various diseases.

Imagine what the drink must be doing to your soft intestines and stomach lining!

Kamalji,
Thanks for your comments.
I fully support your view the so called people who 'endorse' the products definitely need to check the veracity of the claims they themselves make in these endorsements before accepting the endorsement contracts.
If we as a community decide NOT to endorse such products, what can they do?
Thanks

do they do such things just for sake of money and risk the lives of their fans just bcoz they follow thier actions. my only question to them is it isnt their responsiblity to endorse such products that are time and again proved hazardous to health of the people and if as community we take responsiblity for such an issue then only cent % of the population is aware of it and thanx to baba ramdev who is creating awareness abuot the danger of drinking soft? drinks hats of to him as he is doing it at the risk of his life as the sales of the drinks have taken a gr8 beating since he has started campainging against it.

Hi,
I agree totally with you.
Most of those who endorse such products look at ONLY money coming to them. None of them even think of the truthfulness or veracity of the claims made by the manufacturer.
Hats oof to Baba Ramdev.
And hats off to those poor ordinary people from Plachimada (a vilage in North Kerala) where they have forced out the "soft drink" MNC for irresponsible and criminal negligence of environmental issues and uncontrolled extraction of ground water in that place. The MNC is still fighting it out in Court (as of Yesterday's local newspaper). And the politicians still keep playing the game of self improvement!
And now, effects of growing Bt Cotton (many of us would hav watched it on TV 2 days back or read in news papers) - another exploitation of the country!!!!!!!!!

Hi Bala,
Thanks for posting such an informative post.
A real good one.
It is the time to speak out our opinions as loud as possible as the So called care taker(Politicians) of India, have banned these products in parliament to take care of MPs and others but what about "AAM JANTA" where millions of people specially children are drinking these pesticides to clean their complete system.
I know these companies will again manage to get a clearance certificate, Celebrities will endorse these products again and most of us will start gulping this POISON again (people have a short memory).
Why cant we do something to Bann these products? What say??

Hi Archna,
Possibly Kerala is the only state where a total ban has been done. This could be due to the leftist parties being in power.
However as you have stated, the great celebrities (who rake in millions from these adverts) will once again say 'Dil Maange More'!
Public memory is proverbially short.
