Hi,
I'm an MBA student. I personally feel that formal training definitely helps in enhancing some aspects of soft skills and not all. Interpersonal skills, team spirit, and business etiquette can easily be enhanced by means of formal training. I would hold myself as an example for this. I have been through a month of soft skills training in a BPO in which I was employed previously, and it has helped me hone the above-mentioned skills to a great extent.
The other skills, which include negotiation skills, social grace, and behavioral traits such as attitude, motivation, and time management, cannot be changed that easily because these are skills that an individual imbibes and practices over a long period of time. I feel they can be enhanced only with time by gaining experience and knowledge. Formal training can be of little use in these respects. This is not to say formal training is not useful; they are an integral part of today's global organizations.

Hi,
Training becomes effective when it is handled by a competent and experienced trainer. Being a HR professional does not necessarily make one a good trainer; effective delivery and audience receptiveness are crucial. Breaking the ice and engaging the audience require effort and creativity beyond just a few games.
Therefore, effective training goes beyond formal sessions; it involves continuous monitoring, development, and appraisals to ensure that training is an investment. Soft skills, being essential in today's world, require a personalized approach to enhance understanding and application.
