Hello seniors,

I have a question. If I know how much my company deducted from my salary for PF, can I calculate my PF account balance? Please let me know.

For example, if I am deducting Rs. 500 for PF, then after 2 years of deductions, how much will my account balance be? Please help me with this information.

Suriya

Dear Suriya,

Assuming that you are deducting Rs. 500/- from the employee and an equal contribution from the employer every month for the next 2 years, your PF balance would be as follows:

Employee Contribution: 500 * 24 = 12,000/-

Employer Contribution towards Pension: 500 * 8.33% = 42 * 24 (no. of months) = 1,008/-

Employer Contribution towards PF: 500 - 42 = 458 * 24 = 10,992/-

Hence, the total amount will be equal to Rs. 24,000/- (Excluding the interest on the same given by the PF office).

Hope this will solve your query.

Dear Surya,

I have gone through the answers given by somebody regarding the calculation of pension. They have taken the pension amount as Rs. 500 x 8.33%. In this case, it is not correct. The pension amount will be calculated on the basic amount x 8.33%.

If there is a deduction of Rs. 500/- towards PF contribution, in this case, your basic salary would be Rs. 4167/- (4167 x 12% = 500/-).

Employee's contribution: 500 x 24 months = 12000/-

Employers' contribution:
- Towards pension (4167 x 8.33% = 347 x 24 months = 8328/-)
- Towards EPF (500 - 347 = 153) 153 x 24 months = 3672/-

In this case, your EPF balance will be (12000 + 3672) = 15672/- and the pension amount balance will be = 8328/-. Please note that the above balances do not include the interest amount.

I hope this information clarifies your doubts.

Hi Supriya,

You can withdraw your PF amount. Contact your HR or the person handling the issues. They will provide you with the withdrawal forms. You can fill them out, and they will submit them to the relevant PF office.

You will receive your amount in your bank account within approximately one month.

Hi Suriya,

At the time of withdrawal, one has to fill two forms:
1. Form No. 19
2. Form No. 10-C

Form 19 is for the withdrawal of PF amount, and Form 10-C is for the withdrawal of the Pension amount.

Dear Bachhi,

Thanks for the correction.

Hi once you withdraw both the amounts from your PF account, they will be credited to your bank account. That is the reason why we fill out both Form 10C and Form 19 for withdrawal - one for PF and the other for pension. Hope you understand.

Hi Surya,

Bachibreddy is very much correct regarding the calculation of provident fund and pension. You cannot withdraw any amount until you are working in the same company. You can withdraw it after 2 months of leaving this organization. You cannot withdraw the pension amount alone; either you can withdraw both or you can withdraw only the PF amount because legally 8.33% is deposited in the pension to give you a pension.
