Dear senior please explain to me that one employee should be a member of two labor unions in any one company ?
From India, Mumbai
No. One employee cannot be a member of two Unions of the same establishment.

Any restrictions under Trade Union Act sir.
From India, Ernakulam
No. Not necessarily. In the Trade Union Act there is no need to mention that a member of a trade union cannot be member of another trade union of the same organisation but it is implied that it will lead to conflict of interest at the time of negotiation and collective bargaining. But at the same time, he can be a member of trade union of other establishment as outside members are permitted as per the Act.
From India, Kannur
OK. Thanks for clarifications.

No workman can have simultaneous membership in more than one union in the same establishment. The standing orders of the establishment and the Bye-laws of the trade union restricts dual membership.

Hello,
Ideally, one should not be the member of two Trade Unions. BUT, if check-off system has not been introduced in an organisation, it is very much possible and seen in a few industries during my service period, that number of unionised workers is more than the total manpower of that particular unit/establishment. This can only be possible with the fact that a number of employees are member of more than one union.

Should you like to have more advise, you can communicate with me through email at arunjain.ncl@gmail.com

Best wishes
