Dear Abhilasha Purohit,
What is the nature of your industry? Are you referring to behavioural competencies or technical competencies? Since this is an HR forum, let me write about behavioural competencies.
Competencies cannot have a clear demarcation between junior, middle and senior-level managers. Roughly, it can be said that the middle-level managers need to have competencies of the junior-level managers and something extra. The corresponding requirement for the senior-level managers is competencies for the middle-level managers plus something extra.
The possession of a competency cannot described in two words: yes or no. This is because every competency has various levels. In general, these are:
Level 1: Awareness
Level 2: Basic
Level 3: Proficient
Level 4: Advanced
Level 5: Expert
So, for junior, middle and senior-level managers, one needs to be clear about the level of competency they possess.
Competency mapping is an exhaustive exercise. It requires an expert's advice. Therefore, it will be too difficult to provide you with information on the public forum. For further details, feel free to contact me.
Thanks,
