4-day work-week, change in salary: India's new labour codes likely in FY 2022-23 (Hindustan times)

If the new labour codes are implemented, there's a likelihood that employees in India may be able to enjoy a four-day workweek from next year, as opposed to the current five-day workweek.

India is likely to implement four new labour codes on wages, social security, industrial relations, and occupational safety by the next fiscal year beginning 2022, according to a senior government official cited by the PTI news agency. Under these new codes, a number of aspects related to employment and work culture, in general, might change – including the take-home salary of employees, working hours, and the number of weekdays.

Please don't believe in fake speculative news.
What you are seeing is a typical clickbait, where the headline said somehthing and the details shows no one said such a thing and the headline is just a figment of someone's imagination.

India is definitely not going for a 4 day work week.

Dear Colleagues,

As Saswata Banerjee ji has highlighted, lot of misleading news is spreading across as we all know on the new /proposed labour Codes. Hence we need to rely only on the press release or information from the Ministry of Labour, Govt of India.

As far as 4 days week work may not be possible in sectors like Manufacturing but may be in Service Sector but we need to wait what kind of final outcome comes in Proposed Labour Code. We will wait for the much expected Labour Codes to come. Still many State Governments are not ready with Rules under the New Labour Codes as per information available.
