Hello All, Can anyone help me to understand that is compensatory off has any connect with the calendar year? Can compensatory off be carried forward to next year?

Hi,

I can explain the practice which we follow in our organisation(MNC),

The Compensatory -off to be availed by the employees within 30 days.

They cannot avail CO after the expiry of 30 days.

For example, An employee who has worked on Jan 1 2022 (Holiday)who is eligible for CO will have to avail it on or before Feb 1 22.

This cycle continues irrespective of the calendar year.

For example, An employee who has worked on December 25 2021 (Holiday)who is eligible for CO will have to avail it on or before Jan 25 2022.

If you are a factory, compensatory off is to be provided within 3 days before or after the day on which the employee worked on his weekly off or a public holiday that he was entitled to.

In certain cases, with the approval of the Factory Inspector the weekly can be carried forward, but for a period not exceeding 2 months. The is granted in case of emergency work or high workload in cases where the factory can not be shut down on a holiday or weekly off.

Please note that in spite of compensatory holiday, the employee is entitled to double rate OT for the day on which he has worked on his off day / public holiday
