Hi,

I submitted my resignation on August 10. I believe my 2-month notice period came into effect, and I worked until my last day on October 10. I received my full salary for the months of August and September. However, my salary for the 10 days of October was approximately Rs 200 less when compared to the net salary for 31 days.

Q1) Is the salary for the 10 days of October calculated based on the gross salary or the net salary? The net salary is the amount that is deposited into my bank account.

Net Salary + My EPF = Gross Salary
Gross Salary + Employer EPF = Final Salary (CTC)

Q2) Also, do they not include Saturdays and Sundays in the salary calculation?

Q3) What options do I have? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Underpaid Employee

Dear friend,

To arrive at the exact daily rate of salary from the monthly rate, the monthly salary can be divided by the actual number of days in a particular month.

Monthly gross salary includes only the components of salary payable per month before deduction of the employee's statutory contributions to EPF and ESI, and not the other components mentioned in the CTC.

The paid weekly holidays and other holidays falling within the period of the partial service rendered in the month up to the date of relief would be included in the salary payable.

Therefore, adopt the above method of calculation and then decide the correctness of the part-month salary actually paid.
