Dear Vinithakkar,

I believe this question was recently raised by someone in a different form, and I have already provided an answer to it.

The 26-week leave of absence due to maternity will be considered in the calculation of the continuous service of 240 days, which is the threshold for eligibility for Earned Leave (EL). However, the employee will not earn any EL during this entire leave period as she is not actively working.

Dear Team,

Please confirm how Employee Leave (EL) will be considered in the following scenarios:
1. If an employee is on a long leave.
2. If an employee takes EL for Saturday and Monday.

Thank you,
Dharmendra

It would depend on the rules applicable, such as Standing Orders or leave rules of your company. If there are no such binding rules, the general principle is that the employee will not earn leave for the period on long leave.
