If one of the employees works for the first 10 days of the month with 1 weekly day off and then remains absent for the rest of the month (next 20 days), is he eligible for the next 4 or 5 weekly offs in the month?

If one has not worked for the remaining period in a month after the first 10 days, then one is not eligible for paid weekly offs occurring in the month.

The concept is that the first day of the week is a weekly off, and then the employee is to work for 48 hours in the next 6 days to earn the next weekly off.

if he is absent on prefix and suffix to the weekly off hence not eligible

What if he has applied for leave for these 20 days?

Even if he applied for leave, the same rule will apply. He will not be paid for the weekly off when he has not worked 6 days of the week. In all cases where he is on leave before and after the weekly off, the weekly off is definitely not given.

Dear Colleague,

Employees are either daily rated or monthly rated. In the case of a daily-rated employee, the weekly off is usually unpaid, whereas for a monthly-rated employee, the weekly off is paid.

In the instant case, if an employee of either category is found to be unauthorizedly absent and treated as such after their explanation is deemed unacceptable, then the entire period of 20 days is unpaid. However, if the said employee is granted leave, then, in that case, their weekly off is payable if they are monthly rated. For daily-rated employees, barring the days of leave, weekly off days are not payable.
