Hi there, I am an IIT graduate. First, let me tell you about myself before coming to the question.

I have worked for almost a year in the corporate sector, spending the first two months with Company A and the following nine months with Company B. Subsequently, my desire to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination intensified, leading me to resign from my job since I was unable to allocate time due to the unusually hectic work hours.

Now, the question arises: when I apply for a job interview in the future, whether for UPSC CSE, CAT, or any other private job, can I omit mentioning Company A? If so, should I exclude it altogether or provide some details about it? I am concerned that it may not reflect well that I left two jobs in quick succession, despite having all the necessary paperwork (I have exited both firms cleanly with proper relieving letters).

So far as I understand, no recruitment agency for Civil Services of the State like the UPSC, STATE PSCs is concerned with the past employment of prospective appointees in the Corporate Sector in their BGV process, which is connected only with criminal involvement, if any.

It seems that almost three years have passed since his graduation. Certainly, there may be questions regarding what he did during the interregnum if he enters the phase of the interview. Therefore, I don't know why the poster wants to skip mentioning his previous employment experience when his records are clean. Even it can help him have an edge in the vivo voce if he is able to convincingly correlate such experience with the sphere of public administration he intends to enter into.

I think persons in the field of academics like Loginmiracles Kumar can give a better answer to this query.

Sir, actually, I thought that mentioning company A might portray me as a job hopper who gets bored with things too soon, especially since I left company B within the next 9 months. Additionally, it might lead to a new set of questions from a different sector, for which I would need to prepare (as company A and company B were in different sectors). Therefore, if not revealing company A in the DAF does not imply hiding relevant information, I would prefer to keep that information undisclosed.

Yes, in the selection process through UPSC, etc., past employment history in the private sector is not at all relevant for character/background verification. Past experience, even for a brief spell, counts while facing the interviews.
