Hi, I am working as an admin executive. I am interested in learning statutory compliance. My qualification is M.Com. Kindly suggest which course is suitable for me to gain compliance knowledge. Is MSW or a postgraduate diploma in labor laws better?

Mere pursuing a PG Diploma in Labour Laws will not serve the purpose of learning labour/statutory industrial laws. You need to practice it by ensuring its application in a real situation.
Perusing the book "Labour & Industrial Laws" by P.L. Malik gives an in-depth understanding of labour laws.

I do agree with the suggestion of the learned member to peruse "Labour & Industrial Law" by P L Malik for a comprehensive and in-depth study. However, another option is to go through the book "Labour Laws - Everybody Should Know" by H L Kumar, which provides a study of all labor laws and their compliance in a capsule form!

In my opinion, a Post Graduate Diploma in Labor Law would be academically more advantageous to an M.Com. graduate. A systematic course of study in Labor Laws will certainly place a student in a position to know the evolution of labor jurisprudence, the application of other laws like the CrPC, CPC, IPC, Indian Evidence Act, Constitutional law, etc., to labor issues and thus make their understanding broad-based. Additionally, they should cultivate the habit of going through labor law journals to understand the changes in judicial trends from time to time. Popular HR and Industrial Relations veterans like Madhu.T.K, Sen Sharma, Dr. P.B.S. Kumar, etc., have penned wonderful articles on various labor laws in their blogs and books on labor laws with elaborate commentaries such as the ones cited by the other two learned members - all of which would enhance the knowledge of any student undergoing institutional studies in labor laws.

Dear Friends,
I agree with Umakanthan Sir. A Post Graduate Diploma in Labor Law would be academically more advantageous. However, I would like to suggest Mr. Arif that if he wants to learn statutory compliance, he should consider enrolling in the 6-month Executive Development Programme in Labour Laws offered by XLRI. This program is designed by Prof. P. K. Padhi. I recently found out about it through a friend who completed the course.
Thank you.
