Hello team,
I would like to say that due to Covid-19 lockdown, we got stuck in the city. It's been 3 months since we have been working from home. When the situation is at its worst in the city, the company is forcing us to go to the office where 99.9% of employees have gone to their villages and hometowns. When we requested to go home after 3 months, the manager is not allowing us to work from home and is instead forcing us to stay here or leave the company. In this case, what should we do?
The Covid cases are increasing day by day near our locality, which is why we want to go home and work. However, it is not fair what they are doing with us (only the two of us).
Kindly review and let me know if you need any further assistance.

Hi,
Practically, it's not possible to disobey when the employer insists on reporting for duty on the premises; failing to comply could result in losing the job. One cannot say they "can't report due to the presence of positive cases in the vicinity." Unless there is a total lockdown in and around your office, declaring it 'out of bounds,' you'll have no choice. Working from home is not the preferred choice of employees on their own initiative. You have to adapt to the current situation.
Thank you.

Hello, You can ask for alternate-day possibilities from management, although it's a crucial condition for both employees and employers. Please try to convince them with an appropriate solution instead of going against management decisions.

Dear ANONYMOUS,
What I understood from your post is as follows:
During the Covid-19 pandemic, you have been working at home for the past three months. The area where you reside is a red zone with Covid cases increasing day by day, prompting you to want to return to your hometown. However, your company is not permitting you to go back and is asking you to report to the office instead. Despite having no other option but to report to the office, your company must adhere to the directives of the Union of India and the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the local government or bodies. It is essential for you to take precautionary measures and comply with the government's directives.
I hope this helps. Stay safe and take care.

Dear,
As we know, the whole world is gripped under the COVID-19 pandemic, and it's an unprecedented situation for all of us. The working environment is not going to be the same after COVID. The threat of losing jobs/reduction in pay and perks is looming over almost everyone. So, it's the time when we need to secure and manage our existing jobs, even if some of the guidelines, instructions, rules, etc., are somewhat unfavorable to us. We need to bear with it for the time being!
My simple advice is to follow the employer's instructions and seek help on genuine grounds wherever needed amicably.
Regards
