My gross salary is Rs. 18,000. CTC is Rs. 20,000. PF amount is Rs. 2,000.

CTC = 18,000 + 2,000.

In hand, I receive only Rs. 16,000. How to calculate the cost to the company of Rs. 20,000 where the PF is deducted from the gross. The company is paying only 18k: 16k in hand and 2k as pf. Isn't the calculation method wrong?

Please understand.

CTC is your Cost to Company; it includes everything that the company is spending on you.

Gross Salary is your earnings, out of which your part of PF is deducted, and the same amount is paid by the company.
