Dear all,

I have joined a new company in RF antenna manufacturing/telecom as HR head. Since everything has to be streamlined, can someone help me with policies, how to frame, and what all to include? If you already have one, then please share.

Regards

Hi,

As you are joining as an HR Head, I trust you have good experience in HR. HR policies are company-specific and will differ from employer to employer. If you google, there are many HR policies available online; however, they are not ready-to-eat cakes to fit into your organization seamlessly. You need to edit them as per your company's terms. I suggest you first prepare an HR Manual that will comprise overall HR policies and processes.

In the recruitment process, you have many areas to define, such as induction, dress code, work hours, salary and allowances, policy on employee loans, statutory compliance, welfare, resignation & separation processes, etc.

The human resource policy, in my opinion, must be in accordance with the standing order and law. With the new wages code bill on the horizon, we must all change the policies in accordance with the new changes. Legally speaking, the policy must state the following things: Classification of Workmen or Employees, Issue of Identity Card and Access Control, Working Hours, Holidays and Leaves, Attendance and late coming, Payment of wages, Stoppage of work, Termination of employment, Disciplinary action for misconduct, Suspension Of Employee, etc., must be mentioned. Please see this [Drafting of HR policies in line with Industrial Dispute Standing Order](http://www.shramsamadhan.com/p/draftingof-hr-policies-in-line-of.html).

Also, now the sexual harassment act is very important. See this [Sexual Harassment Complaints and In-House Redressal Committee: A Legal Analysis](http://www.shramsamadhan.com/p/sexualharassment-complaints-and-in.html).

Dear Head of HR,

We are all aware that each organization has a mission and vision; these are fundamental core values of any organization. Based on the company's mission and vision, you need to prepare HR policies aligning with the company's core values. Before finalizing any HR policy, it is better to discuss with senior employees in the organization both formally and informally so that a lot of constructive inputs will be available. This approach will result in an effective but realistic HR policy with better acceptance from employees.

Hope, as an HR head, you can handle this task with ease and confidence!

Thank you.
