Apprentices are not considered to be 'employees' and as they are not paid salary/wages but only stipend. Therefore they are not members of EPF under the Act. Similarly they are not part of LWF as well. But they will have to be covered under the ESI Act. Pl.check with any instructions issued by the WB govt. in this regard.
