If you go through the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, you will find that the Act falls under the administrative domain of both the Central and State Governments of India in respect of the employments earmarked to them under the concept of "Appropriate Government" defined in its definition clause. Therefore, there is no such wholesome minimum wage uniformly applicable across the country.
But there is another kind of minimum wage fixed and periodically revised by the Central Government called "National Floor Level Minimum Wages" (NFLMW) applicable to all employments whether industrial or otherwise. This is a laudable attempt by the Government of India to ensure uniformity in the wage structure of unorganized labor across the country, factoring in the impact of inflation.
In short, no wage payable for any labor hired can be less than this National Floor Level Wages. Even the Central and State Governments are also required to take into account this national floor level wages while fixing the minimum wages. You can browse the Net and find the details.
