I want to know if a holiday falls in between a leave period, will it be counted as part of the leave or the holiday?

Example: If someone takes leave from the 13th of August to the 18th of August (with the 15th of August being a holiday), then is the 15th of August counted as a holiday or as part of the leave?

It depends on the type of leave. Generally, casual leave rules permit treating it as a holiday. For example, the 13th and 14th are considered casual leave, the 15th is a holiday, and then again, the 16th to 18th are considered casual leave.

In contrast, with Earned Leave, all days, including the 15th, are treated as Earned Leave.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user's reply is incorrect as it does not address the query about whether a holiday falling between leave days should be counted as leave or holiday. It seems like the user misunderstood the original question. It would be best to provide information related to leave policies in this context.

  • Hi,

It depends on the company policy as many companies treat holidays that fall between leaves as leave only and not as a holiday. The reason is that the employee is entitled to a holiday only if they are in service, meaning working either before or after the holiday. In case you are not working before or after the holiday, then the company counts the same as a part of the leave only.
