Yes, the person can continue working even after completing 60 years of age. however, no contribution will be made towards EPS once an employee completes 58 years of age. You can refer to the PF act.

Age limit varies from company to company and also management may even waive off the limit --in private companies.
As per law-there is no limit. EPF applicability has been already clarified.

Dear Friend,
There is no bar legally to continue employment after the stipulated age of retirement.
But established good practice is to retire the employee first, settle his all legal dues and rehire as Consultant on fixed term contractual basis , on agreed consolidated remuneration/fees.

With due respect to learned members, I beg to differ a bit on this.Even directors of the companies who work purely on meetings basis, are allowed to continue till 70 yrs of age. beyond that special permission of shareholders and govt. is required to employ them. If this is the case, then how can an ordinary employee be kept on rolls indefinitely. As per pf scheme he superannuates at 58 yrs. Beyond that he cant be kept as regular employee but as consultant he can continue to work. I think this sums up the correct position of law.

Yes. Companies do employ people who have retired. Most companies hire retired employees as:
1. They are experienced and do not mind working at a low salary
2. They contribute effectively to the Company by using their vast experience
3. They are more reliable and will not abstain from duty.
4. They are also able to multi task and guide junior employees
We septuagenarians are a really asset to the Company
