Promotion is an elevation in an employee's performance, hard work, aims, and goals that an employee aspires to achieve many times. Even though a dry promotion doesn't seem very exciting, the word "promotion" does! When an employee is promoted to a higher level with a good percentage hike, do you think it should be shared with other employees or kept within the management and that employee?

Possibilities in sharing include: sharing with other employees can act as a motivation factor, inspiring others to perform better and aspire to reach the same position. However, what if it backfires? What if another employee who has served the same tenure in the company didn't get the promotion? What if they feel demotivated and perceive the management as being partial, leading to negative impacts on morale or even deciding to quit the company?

Please share your thoughts on this matter!

Promotion is an elevation of an employee's performance, hard work, aims, and goals that an employee aspires to achieve many times. Even though a dry promotion doesn't seem to be very exciting, the word promotion itself does! When an employee is promoted to a higher level with a good percentage hike, do you think it should be shared with other employees or kept within the management and the promoted employee?

If the promotions are based purely on merit without any nepotism, they will surely motivate others to excel in their performance. If there is even a slight hint of partiality, it will backfire for sure.

It's the pride of the employee and as well as a message to all the others that every good work is being recognized. When the management is doing good things and supporting the employees by rewarding and recognizing them, it should be transparent.

As our friend mentioned, the process should be genuine and merit-based. If not, the management has to face the music because somehow or other the message will spread, and it's better to be open about it.

Thanks,
