Hello, guys,
I have the same query but in a different context. On Saturday - 1st half day present, Sunday - Weekly Off, Monday - CL, Tuesday - Public Holiday, Wednesday - Full day present. Then, should Sunday be paid or not? Please clarify this issue for me because currently, I'm facing this problem in my company, and many employees are unhappy with this rule.

If your establishment is a factory, then the holidays or weekly off days coming in between two leave days will be counted only as holiday or weekly off days, as the case may be, and not as leave days. This is because the earned leave/ PL under Factories Act is calculated based on the actual days present in the factory and not on the basis of pay days. At the same time, there is no such treatment with regard to the treatment of PL under Shops Act. Additionally, there may be casual leave available to employees in commercial establishments. There can be a generally accepted norm for sandwiching of holidays, and accordingly, holidays and weekly off days coming in between two Casual Leave days are treated as holidays/weekly off days, and holidays/weekly off days coming in between two PLs or sick leaves shall be treated as PL or SL, as the case may be.

Hello friend,
The above-mentioned case is very vital. Some of the employees are taking advantage of the situation. Once Saturday is worked for half a day, then the employee is eligible for a weekly off on Sunday, no doubt.
About paid holidays, if an employee works a full day after a paid holiday, their casual leave is automatically approved. The paid holiday is counted as a working day.
Thank you.
