Gossip is part of our human nature.
Eliminating gossip completely is next to impossible.good comunication, open dealing can help control gossip. An atmosphere of trust can help control gossip.
“A rumor/gossip is a social cancer: it is difficult to contain and it rots the brains of the masses. However, the real danger is that so many people find rumors enjoyable.
So try to keep your office as open and approachable and control gossip.
When Gossip is nature's telephone., you need to be careful about using this telephone.

Dear All,

A more appropriate term is grapevine. In spite of the most effective communication channels, where all information is being conveyed and received in the most appropriate manner at the right time in a set-up, grapevine, an entirely informal approach to communication, which may include gossip and rumors, at times carries truthful and relevant information. It cannot be just ruled out as it is part of human nature. It has both pros and cons but must not make one unnerved. If an organization follows open, direct communication - both upwards and downwards, the 'vine' can be reduced, but never eliminated!
