I joined this company in May 2014 and PF was deducted in my first month salary. But the entry in passbook is dated from June 2014. Is this correct?

Yes, it is correct. In PF passbook, the annual period is Mar-Feb wages. However, the contribution is shown in the next month when the employer deposits the amount.

Earlier, when PF records were maintained manually, it was shown in the register as:
- Mar paid in Apr
- Apr paid in May
- and so on...

Thanks for the reply, Mr. Dangwal.

In this scenario, if the company pays the amount in the month of November for the wage month June, which is past the due date, they should have paid it in July. However, they ended up paying it in November.
