Dear All,

In my present employment, I was transferred due to a functional change and am currently working in the Admin Department where I am facing the following issue:

I have a habit of completing tasks before the specified deadline with perfection to avoid being blamed for any arising issues in the future. However, the problem lies in the fact that my manager always assigns tasks that need to be completed immediately, causing me to fall short of achieving my targets and receiving reprimands for underperformance. I am unsure of where I am lacking.

While I do not expect appreciation, I believe I should at least be given consideration for my existing workload, of which my manager is already aware.

Please help me on how to handle this situation.

Thank you.

The issue has been created by too much emphasis on quick results. Probably bosses feel that you are very efficient and use time well to plan and do your jobs effectively. Normally, efficient people are given more tasks due to their abilities in time management, prioritization skills, and job efficiency.

You may need to keep a record of each job you are handling. If more tasks come up than you can manage, inform your bosses about the status of each job. Your bosses may not be fully aware of all the details of each task, so it's important to explain and keep them updated on the status of your work. Remember, not every job can be done single-handedly, and you may rely on inputs from others.

Explain these facts calmly and proceed.

Dear Mr. Nathrao,

I appreciate your valuable and supportive feedback. However, let me add one thing: I tried my best to explain, but I noticed he is not focusing on it. Later, he follows up, even though I have already submitted my explanation.

I will definitely try the approach you suggested in a better way.

Thank you.

Don't try to pitch yourself as Superman. Steady and timely work, meeting acceptable quality standards, is what matters. Have a clear record of the jobs you do. When given tasks beyond your abilities due to an overload, prioritize the jobs and ask the boss which to do first or request a different timeline. There is also a danger of making a job look too easy. Simply be meticulous in your work, and the organization should be certain of your reliable delivery of products/output.
