There is no restriction, but it is better to have as minimal as possible. However, you will have a contractor for security, engineering services like AC & refrigeration, housekeeping, loading & unloading, transport, painting, canteen, civil, etc.

It is better to have a single contractor/agency with separate PF & ESI numbers who could take a single contractor license for various activities and be responsible for all legal compliance in the engagement of contract labor in the company. If necessary, separate subcontractors may be engaged through the main contractor. The advantages are that the company does not need to go for an amendment when new contractors are appointed or when there is a change in the particulars of the registration certificate. Additionally, the company could engage good subcontractors who may not have PF & ESI code numbers, etc.
