Hi all,

Can you please help me out with your suggestions if we need to plan sick leave/casual leave for 12 days annually (sick leave 7 days and casual leave 5 days)? Is there any provision for this under The Karnataka Shops & Commercial Establishments Act, 1961?

Hi,

As far as I know, the provision states that there are 12 days of sick leave and earned leave will be accrued at a rate of 1 day for every 20 days worked, which can be accumulated up to 40 days. There is no provision for casual leave, but if you wish to provide it, you may do so above and beyond the limit.

Dear Sir,

To sanction leave, we have made the policy as follows:

- CL due after 43.57 days totals leaves 7
- EL due after 20 days 15
- SL due after 21.78 days 14

Only unavailed (balance) earned leaves are encashed in the month of January.

This is for your information.

Thanks,
