Hi all,
I have recently joined as an HR professional in a bank in India. Could you kindly provide me with a practical terminology PDF or book related to HR? I would like to understand the basic terminology and operations in Indian HR, including payroll activities. For example, I am interested in terms like "360-degree feedback" and similar concepts. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Are you new to working, banking, or HR itself? Please enlighten me. Your query is like one of the five blind men trying to figure out an elephant. Do you think you will get enriched just by receiving or by my sharing the so-called 'stuffs'? What is your aim, and what do you want to prove here, friend? If you are qualified in HR in some way or the other, you would have, by now, acquired knowledge about the 'stuffs'! If you are really keen to know and not yet qualified in the HR field, better undergo a course, or better still, search on the internet, download, read, and understand. Please remember, sharing from our end is easy, but getting to know the 'stuffs' by your own search and learning will add more weightage, and only then 'real learning' can take place. Do not think that I am arrogant or rude or whatever you may think. But these days, youngsters do not bother to go the extra mile to learn things by themselves. They want things to be delivered to them like Domino's Pizza! Please make an attempt to learn things by yourself. The internet is abundant with the 'stuffs'! Best wishes.

Dear Sundaram,
I have just started my research and come across this site. This is my first foray into searching for HR information. I would like to educate myself by engaging with people, discussing queries, and seeking online help. Could you kindly provide any information regarding HR practices in India or recommend any books that cover the basics of HR? For instance, I am interested in learning about 360-degree appraisals and other related terminologies.
Thanks in advance.

You mean, you are GOING TO BE TRANSFERRED TO INDIA.... You need to brush up your English language also, friend! In CiteHR itself, you can search for Basic HR policies, and you will get plenty of documents to download, save, and read. Shops and Establishment Act, latest amendments to ESI, PF policies... If you search for the right things at the right place in the right manner, you will surely get what you want! Best wishes

I have already responded above. As for 360 degrees, you can only learn and understand the concept or principle behind it. Please remember, ultimately, you will have to execute, carry out, or implement what the Corporate HR wants you to implement. Therefore, I am reiterating my earlier advice that in CiteHR itself, you will find a lot of articles. Search for it, read and understand, whether you will have the kind of liberty to implement what you desire or not! Best wishes
