Dear HR,

Please help me.

Actually, I was working in a staffing company last year. As per the PF Challan, the company paid the government the correct amount every month. However, when I received my PF settlement, there was a difference of around Rs. 4000 compared to my PF Passbook. Could you please let me know how I can claim this amount from the PF office?

Thank you.

First of all, take a printout of your PF passbook and bank passbook in which you received your PF claim, and contact the PF clerk at your PF office to inform them about the difference as you mentioned. One thing to clarify here is that if your contribution to PF is less than six months from the date of your joining and you resign from your job, then you are eligible only for your contribution amount to PF, while the employer's contribution is retained by the PF office. I hope this information is useful to you.

PF passbook is not showing the correct amount in most cases. If you have proof of all the remittances, make a representation to the Regional PF Commissioner and, if possible, visit the office where the remittances were paid.
