My husband worked in a MNC in Chennai .He was asked to resign as he undergone open heart surgery.The company offered some amount as compensation but they took 55 days to settle the amount after a frequent call to the company.For the past 5 months we are waiting for PF(two and a half months)and Medical reimbursement.When we inquiry the insurance company(allankit insurance)they asked us to contact HR but none of the people from HR department is responding to our call or our mail. Dont Know what to do Please help me out

For Mediclaim reimbursement from any insurance company, you need to fill in their specified reimbursement from and submit all original medical documents. You need to mention your medical card details, period of hospitalization etc. So has any form been submitted by you.
Kindly also note that employee is covered under company mediclaim as long as he is an active employee. All exited employees cease to be part of the mediclaim policy. Companies send a details of exited employees to the insurance company every month.
So has the operation happened before / after your husband exit from the company?
If before, then ensure you fill in the mediclaim reimbursement from. Hand deliver it and get an acknowledgement from the company.
The mediclaim is processed by TPA (Third Party Administrator) of the mediclaim company. So you can alternatively find out if you can directly courier the mediclaim form to them. TPA of companies like National Insurance. United Insurance allow employees to directly send the forms to them. The TPA send a mail to the HR stating that they have received medical documents from concerned employee. They then do the normal process of claim settlement.
In case of reimbursement, the mediclaim company either releases the amount to the company and then the company releases it to the employee. Or the employee gives a cancelled cheque to the mediclaim company along with the reimbursement form and the company credits the money to that account. It all depends on the prevailing practice in the company.
If the operation was after your husband exited then as mentioned employee who are not in active employment of the employee are not part of the medical policy.

Let me share my experience with you in similar case. When one of our relatives was admitted for heart trouble, the first thing the front office executive asked was to provide the insurance card. On providing the insurance card, the insurance office asked for the advance from the insurance company. At the time of discharge final settlement was done with the insurance company. However, some nominal charge was required to be paid. The persons who work in the insurance office are hospital employees who know the procedure of the claim settlement. In the entire case the HR of the company did not come in picture.
In your case, is it that you have paid hospital charges on your own and now claiming the refund? What is your issue about PF? Have you submitted your medical claim to the company or to the insurance company? What reimbursement you are seeking from the company or insurance company?
General comments: - Open-heart surgery is major event. Spouse and other kin of the ailing person get aggrieved. Against this backdrop, the HR professionals could have remained in touch and guided the spouse of the hospitalised employee. Rather than remaining in touch or taking calls, the originator of the post claims that the HR professionals are uncommunicative. This is height of the insensitivity. Is this how HR from MNC supposed to engage their employees? The incident well illustrates that the employee engagement is not just having some office games but creating an environment of where people are mentally are engaged with one another. Otherwise, the HR of MNC have penchant for taking potshots or exuding their superiority for not working in lala company. But the post shows that their work culture no different from common lala company. Quite unfortunate! .
