I am working in a manufacturing company with a staff of 40 employees. We celebrate birthdays at the month-end by distributing gifts and having a small party in the office. However, it is becoming monotonous. I am thinking of adding some motivational team-building games. Seniors, please suggest some games we can play or share more interesting ideas.

Regards,
Priyanka

A birthday is a significant event for the employee. They should be the center of attention. Having said that, I would suggest something like:

For employees with 15+ years of service: Historical background of the company when you were hired - how and in what way has it changed.

For employees with 5-10 years of service: Describe your first day - your supervisor, your work station, your co-workers (who left and who are still here.)

For employees with less than 5 years of service: What is your background and how did you decide to work here.

Other options:

Have a whiteboard available so that the participants can write congratulatory comments to be kept up until the next party.

Have a discussion on the topic of (a) What positive attributes have been developed up to this point in your life (birthday person.), and (b) What attributes did you have (beyond the birthday person's age)/ focusing on (younger than the birthday person.)

Discuss: What, I hope, the future holds for me and the path I intend to take to make it come true.

Hi,

At Demag, I conduct monthly birthdays, and as part of this celebration, we organize small fun games such as musical chairs, simple puzzles, minute-to-win-it games, antakshari in a different style, balloon games, etc. We involve cross-functional teams in these activities and reward the winners or teams with chocolates.

We track participation by monitoring attendance every month. To gauge employee satisfaction, we distribute paper smileys (both sad and happy) at the beginning of the event. Employees are asked to leave a happy smiley if they enjoyed the event or a sad smiley if they did not.

Our monthly rewards are linked to the celebration, where outstanding achievements are recognized through the distribution of citations. We ensure that at least one or two functional heads attend the celebration each month. Pictures are taken and regularly uploaded to the HR picture gallery for employees to view.

We print and display birthday cards for employees to sign. Additionally, we order a cake and play music to enhance the overall event atmosphere.
